Discover How the Ford F-150 Compares to its Springfield Rival
If you're in the market for a durable, hard-working truck, your options have never been more plentiful than they are now. With so many choices available, it can be tough to determine which is the model that's best suited to meet your particular requirements. Fortunately, we'v done the hard work of comparing two of the more popular models in the full-size truck segment, pitting the ford F-150 up against its Toyota Tundra competitor.
Price
If you compare the introductory Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price for each model, the Ford F-150 saves you money right from the start -- over $3,500, to be clear.
Performance
The F-150 is available with your choice of six engines, while the Tundra only offers you two from which to choose. If you need consistent power and capability from your truck, then the F-150 is the choice for you. With a maximum output of 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, the F-150 easily tops the Tundra's max numbers of 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the Ford F-150 is rated tow a maximum of 13,200 pounds, while the Tundra tops out at 10,100 pounds.
Interior and Features
The F-150 boasts an upscale interior, with comfortable, supportive front seats that make even the longest of drives a pleasant experience. While the Tundra's interior is appealing, the quality of the materials doesn't quite match up to those used in the F-150.
Both pickups feature a rearview camera among their standard amenities. While the base Tundra does offer a few more standard features, it does cost significantly more than the introductory F-150. If you want, you can take the money you save initially and use it to add the options that make the most sense for you.
Safety
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Ford F-150 a Top Safety Pick rating, with the pickup earning top scores in all five crash-related tests. The Tundra only scored high marks on three of the five tests, with lower ratings in the roof strength and small overlap front tests. In addition, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration granted the Ford F-150 with a 5-Star Overall crash safety rating, while the Tundra earned a 4-Star Overall rating.Send Us a Message
